((Need the first half of the log, since I was on my phone.))

Rusty-Gears sighs softly, sitting down beside the couch. "I… I know you w-wanted to do the right thing, Blackbird…" she laid her ears back. "I just… I don't trust that Mare far as I can throw her. And I'm not /that/ strong. …What if she /is/ just… lying? What if she heard about the wish somehow, or even just heard she was an orphan, and… is trying to pull some trick? I just can't see little Sadaka as a pirate. She's scared to step hoof in the fountain half the time, nevermind the /ocean/!"

Blackbird pauses, ears flicking as he blinks. "…I didn't…" Blink. "i didn't even think of that. Even her recording was fake. i never even thought to second guess—" Okay, now he's kissed. Well, resolved, at least. He lunges off the couch and snorts, nuzzling her fiercely. "You're completely right. Buck that insane mare with spike-shod horseshoes! I bet she's just trying to get a rise out of me!"

Rusty-Gears smiles faintly over at him, nodding. "If all you've got is that mare's word… I wouldn't take it far. She's not trustworthy… we both know that. If they have Sadaka…" she stamped a hoof determinedly. "We can't just sit here, we have to /do/ something about it."

Blackbird stomps a hoof in echo, even adding a snort for good measure. "You're absolutely right. That witch has to have been lying. There's no way Sadaka's in the Syndicolt, and no way we can let the crazy mare keep her bloody hooves on her. We need to think of a plan though. What— what should we do?"

Rusty-Gears tilts her ears thoughtfully. "Hmm… Well… As… much as I'm a fan of just charging on in… something tells me she'd be expecting that." She frowns. "We need a /plan/… a plan of action here… we need to know more about it all…"

Blackbird nods thoughtfully. "Yeah, good point. But maybe we can play into her hooves a little to get more information. If I went to the boat and begged to see her…I mean, she's probably expecting that, right? And then maybe we can goad her into giving us more information. It's…not the greatest plan, but it's a thought, anyway."

Rusty-Gears nods slowly. "Hmmm… well… maybe. I'm sure she /is/ expecting it. And if we play it right… maybe she'll think everything's going her way. The longer she thinks that, the more of an advantage we have."

Blackbird rubs his chin thoughtfully with one hoof, eyes narrowing at the floor as he thinks. "Exactly. What would she want to happen? She's a fan of melodrama, right? She wanted me to sweep in and make dramatic entrances. Maybe we should make a dramatic entrance, then. I mean…I already had a bit of a meltdown in front of her. Might as well make the best of it, right?"

Rusty-Gears nods and smiles. "You know I'm with you all the way. Besides… I love dramatic entrances."

Blackbird gives Rusty a sheepish little grin there, hiding his blush a bit. "Excellent. Then I think it's time to run to the boat, don't you?" And with one more little nuzzle for good measure, he starts trotting for the door, pausing just in case.

Rusty-Gears nods and snatches up her saddlebags before trotting after him. "We'll have to be careful, either way… Just in case."

Blackbird nods. "It's not just us in danger; they could easily take it out on Sadaka, too. So best tread lightly." He takes a deep breath, and heads out the door as he starts to let that panic he'd tried to hide back to the fore.

Rusty-Gears blinks and nods. "That… is a very good point." Hm. :/ "Well… we'll just have to keep an ear out for any hint it's time to back off. Get our info and come back and plan. I know it's kinda hard to put something like this off, but…"

"No, you're right. I'd rather be cautious and have her back in one piece. As far as I can tell, she's not planning on hurting her in the meantime, because she can /use/ her." Blackbird lets out a snort, jaw tightening, but he's speeding up as he runs through the town toward the distant docks. "But if she hurts a single hair on her head…"

"I'm with you there," Rusty agreed, gritting her teeth a bit. "I've got a few more sawblades that I'm sure would be just /thrilled/ to make her acquaintance."
